As the weather heats up, NYC Parks is offering free workout courses every Wednesday from now through the end of June. Courses will be held in all five NYC boroughs, with the Bronx class held at Starlight Park.

Shape Up NYC is a free, drop in, fitness program.  Classes are scheduled to begin at 10:30 am each Wednesday and last an hour. To attend, residents don’t need to be a member of the city’s recreational centers and do not need to sign up beforehand.

The Bronx class will meet at the entrance of East 172nd Street and Edgewater Road.  The total body workouts include choreographed bodyweight and cardio routines set to music.  For all participants’ safety, instructors and participants are asked to wear a face-covering and maintain social distancing of 10 feet during class.

The fitness program is one of several planned by NYC Parks as the weather heats up and summer begins. Others will include swim lessons, summer camps, teen programs, and youth sports clubs and clinics.

More information on the class as well as other services can be found at https://www.nycgovparks.org/programs/recreation/shape-up-nyc
