Officers from the 41st Precinct in Longwood and the Melrose housing police collaborated to bust up two rival gangs that have terrorized the area around NYCHA’s Forest Houses in Morrisania.

On April 17, the Bronx District Attorney’s office announced the arrests of nearly three-dozen members of the Six Four Goons (SFG) and Forest Over Everything (FOE) gangs, as part of an 80-count indictment.

The massive takedown followed a 15-month investigation that stemmed from the shooting death of four year-old Lloyd Morgan Jr. on July 22, 2102. Morgan was killed by a stray bullet fired during a wild shootout while watching a pickup basketball game at Forest Houses. Ronald Jeffrey, then 19, and Rondell “Spyder” Pinkerton, were charged with murder in the 2012 indictment.

Investigators from the 41st Precinct and the Police Special Area say they used Facebook entries between gang members to trace firearm purchases, shootings and heated rivalries. They also monitored phone conversations between gang members being held on Rikers Island.

The indictment cites five incidents of attempted murder and an attempted assault between members, dating between June, 2011 and July, 2012.

In one August, 2011 Facebook exchange cited in the indictment, one member wrote “Somebody gotta walk with me threw forest so I can…get …to my crib…bout to get back on my shoot…idc [I don’t care] if they with they granny I’m dumping type sh**…”

In another Facebook post, dated July, 2012, a suspect wrote “U hurd wat happen on 64th…yeaaa we goin to run down on them this week…head shots only bro.” Later that month, the shootings the poster anticipated took place.
