Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the city will be opening up to six additional Covid-19 testing sites at or near NYCHA buildings, one of which is the Belvis Health Center located at 545 E. 142nd St. All sites offer free testing for NYCHA residents and walk-ins are accepted.

Cumberland Health Center, Belvis Health Center and Gouvernor Health Center opened on April 24, and Jonathan Williams, Woodside and St. Nicholas will open this week. These centers are scattered across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.

All sites are run by NYC Health + Hospitals, a public health system comprised of 11 hospitals.

The mayor’s announcement makes the opening of Belvis official, but according to residents who live nearby, the clinic has offered testing for Covid-19 now for several weeks.
