A new educational program in Mott Haven could bring as many as 150 high-tech jobs to the area.

Technology educational non-profit Per Scholas and software engineering and consulting firm Doran Jones will partner to create a software testing center at Per Scholas’ local headquarters at 804 East 138th St.

The firms announced the joint project in April, and promise $5 million in wages during the company’s first year for an Urban Development Center.

The new center will offer job training in software testing. Per Scholas, which provides free technology education and job placement to unemployed and underemployed adults, will train software testers during 8-week software testing education programs. The majority of its graduates will go directly to work in the new center in the same building.

Construction of the new space will begin this summer.
