Assaults
A dispute between a brother and sister ended with a chokehold, police said. The siblings, who live together on East 152nd Street, argued at about 8 p.m. on Dec. 24. The brother, 19, choked his sister, 28, bruising her neck. He had left by the time cops arrived on the scene, police said, adding the investigation is ongoing.

A 48-year-old resident of St. Mary’s Park Houses hit his 45-year-old girlfriend in the head with a can of hairspray and broke her house phone, police said. The attack took place at about 4 in the morning on Dec. 26.

Attempted pickpocketing fails
A teenager defended himself against a would-be pickpocket, police said. The teen, 14, was on the stairs at the 3rd Avenue-149th St. station when the suspect, 48, allegedly bumped into him on the stairs and felt out the teen’s left pocket, which contained change. The teen yelled out, and the suspect moved away, police said. The Bronx District Attorney’s Office has declined to prosecute.

Robberies
A 31-year-old deliveryman was robbed on the grounds of Betances Houses, police said. He was delivering Chinese food just after 6 p.m. on Dec. 26 when two men approached him, stole his bicycle and food, and ran away. No arrests have been made.

Burglaries
A woman’s pocketbook was stolen while prayed at the Church of God on Brook Avenue, cops said. The 46-year-old woman locked the pocketbook inside an office in the building while attending services on the evening of December 21. When she returned, the pocketbook had been taken, with her driver’s license and credit cards. No arrests have been made.

Crooks celebrated Christmas eve by emptying the register at Best Italian Pizzeria on E 149th St. in the Hub the night before Christmas. On Christmas morning, the employee who opened the restaurant reported that burglars had removed the front-door locks, broken in and taken $753 from the cash register. They also tried unsuccessfully to break open the ATM indoors, he reported to police, who have not yet arrested the thieves.

A Mott Haven woman returned home after Christmas to find over $4,700 worth of electronics stolen from her apartment, police said. The 41-year-old victim spent three days with her mother and returned to her Wales Avenue apartment, where she lives alone, on Dec. 26. A bedroom window and security gate were open, and the woman’s TV, computer, Xbox and some clothes were missing, police said. No arrests have been made.

Grand Larcenies
A livery cab was broken into on the evening of Dec. 18, police said. The owner parked his car on East 139th Street at about 6 p.m. and returned a half hour later to find the car broken into and the GPS, camera and taxi radio stolen. Investigations are ongoing.

A woman’s subway nap cost her her property, police said. The 26-year-old fell asleep on a 6 train traveling from Manhattan to the Bronx just after 4 a.m. on Dec. 29, and woke up at 143rd Street to find her iPhone, debit card, and $400 paycheck missing. When she called her bank to cancel the debit card, she found out the thief had already used it to charge two Manhattan cab rides. No arrests have been made.

Another man was robbed on a 6 train going in the opposite direction, police said. The victim, 44, was on a southbound 6 train at about 1 in the morning on Dec. 29. When the train pulled into the Brook Avenue station, two crooks grabbed his backpack from between his legs and ran into the station. The backpack contained an iPad, a men’s fitness magazine and an Investools book. Police are looking for the suspects.

Crooks stole over $4,000 worth of property from a storage unit at Public Storage at 367 Southern Blvd.storage unit on the afternoon of Dec. 17. Thieves broke into the facility a block from the Bruckner Expressway and took an iPad, two designer watches and two pairs of shoes. No arrests have been made.

A woman’s wallet was lifted while she was getting her nails done in a Hub-area nail salon, police said. The 34-year-old victim set her wallet down while getting a service at the salon at noon on Christmas Day. When she turned around, the wallet was gone, she reported. Soon after, the thief used her credit card to go shopping at a clothing store, cops said, adding they have not made any arrests in the case so far.

A Port Morris beer distributor reported the theft of three 6-by-12 foot steel plates, also known as trench plates, from the plant on Walnut Avenue. The plates, used to cover potholes and street construction digs, were taken Dec. 19 at about 4:30 p.m. Police say their investigation is ongoing.

A Melrose man’s locker was broken into at Planet Fitness on Third Avenue, at about 10:30 pm on Dec. 28. The victim told police he discovered the lock on his locker had been broken and his IDs, debit and credit cards and $120 in cash taken. No arrests have been made.
