The Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation (Whedco), a Bronx-based non-profit, will be holding an open house on Thursday, Sept 30 between 4 and 6 p.m. at 1330 Intervale Ave between Jennings and Freeman, to try to help Bronxites find work with the city’s Green Carts program. A Whedco spokesperson says the organization is “helping match hopeful entrepreneurs – green cart permit holders and individuals planning to apply in Fall 2010 – with microlenders and other nontraditional lenders who can help them obtain the start-up funds to begin their businesses at NYC Green Cart vendors.” Green carts are located on streets across the city, providing work for those who man the carts, while helping to supply fresh fruits and vegetables for residents. Also, a Whedco representative will help those interested in applying for a permit to fill out their application forms, Tuesday, Oct 5 between 5 and 7 p.m., also at 1330 Intervale.
